Balbriggan Anti-Social Behaviour Protest

 

On 29th November 2017, the residents of Balbriggan took to the streets outside the local garda station to protest the fear they feel walking the streets thanks to “youth gangs” in the community. While I was saddened to see such a protest was necessary, I was not one bit surprised – this is something we regularly see raised with us as an issue for the area. Regularly, constituents call into my office or advice clinics looking for help with anti-social behaviour in their neighbourhood. I have raised these issues regarding policing and resources with the Minister for Justice and MaryLou has raised policing in North County Dublin at the Public Accounts Committee. Balbriggan has a young and fast growing population – Garda resources must be increased to support this
